Animal Farm: A Twisted Fairy Tale Story

 Novel Review:
Animal Farm
by George Orwell

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
Animal Farm.

Animal Farm is one of Orwell’s many wonderful works in which the theme may be deeper than you think. On the surface, it tells the story of animal farms liberated themselves from human ruling in a farm but ends with the pigs controlling the farm with fear and dictatorship. Truth be told, the novel is actually an allegory of the failed Russian Revolution of 1917 despised by Orwell himself. Given that the revolution happened decades ago, it had become an important historical event for future generations to learn from and not repeating such similar mistakes. However, some corruptions from the novel can be seen clearly in the world we live today as for whether they are done intentionally or not.

  • How did the material reflect current events?

This novel can reflect current events like political corruptions where some leaders misuse the power they have to their own benefits. As they grasp the power in their hands, they begin to drown in power because they lack the discipline to control themselves. The kinds of corruptions these leaders make ranged from taking and giving  bribery , hiding and using the country's money to their pleasure and even conceal their wrongdoings by bribing the mass media. Clearly, these kind of leaders are not suitable to lead us as such actions can bring up rebellion against the higher authorities; this activity is not only detrimental to the country for invoking chaos but could also  open up the opportunity for other countries to interfere and invade us.

All in all, corruption of power will never end as humans will never stop to be greedy for power and possession of something better. Thus, Animal Farm will always be relevant now until the future cause the nature of these ideas will never stop in humans.
