Nations Should Negotiate with Terrorists

Image result for negotiation with terrorists to buy time

Terrorists are a dangerous group of people who do anything like kidnapping hostages to get a huge amount of money and better war equipment. There has been a debate among people where the nation should negotiate with terrorists. In my opinion, I agree with the idea as it can secure trust between the nation and the people, the lives of the hostages are a top priority and it can save the nation enough time to plan a better rescue plan.

Acts of negotiation from terrorists usually involve hostages as a way to get what they want. As the hostages are part of the society under the care of the higher authority in a nation, it is the responsibility of the nations to ensure that they are safe.  As the nations have done their part, the people then trust them; a good cooperation between two sides is established which leads to a prosperous country. If the nations bluntly decline a negotiation from the terrorists, the people's trust in them is broken as they think that the nations value their money more than the wellbeing of the people. Such act can lead to the disrupt of a country as the people will be more reluctant to contribute to the country and may cause a social uprising as an expression of their unsatisfaction, thus leading to the downfall of the country. Surely the nation should consider the negotiation with terrorists to secure a good trust between two sides.

Moreover, the terrorists usually kidnap random people they could find in a particular area. They are innocent people that should not deserve such uncertain fate. Everyone including the hostages deserves the rights to live as they could contribute to the country in their own way. For example, imagine if one of the hostages is a professional surgeon that conducted countless successful surgeries that contributed to the country by making it be well-known by all people. With negotiation , the surgeon can be saved and continue to contribute to the country by saving a lot of lives and making the country proud. Negotiation is an important matter as it can save the lives of people who could contribute to the country.

Furthermore, negotiating with the terrorists can buy the nation enough time to plan a good rescue mission. During a negotiation, a limited amount of time is given to the nation to ensure that the hostages are safe and sound. From negotiation, the nations are also able to gather better intelligence and allow better resources to be assembled. With all of these things, the rescue mission has a high rate of success and can be conducted in peace. If the nations do not undergo the negotiation or recklessly perform a rescue mission, the hostages have a low chance of surviving the ordeal and those who are close to the hostages will be sad and blame the nations as heartless. Negotiations with terrorists are important as it can give the nation enough time to plan a good rescue mission for a peaceful outcome.

In a nutshell, terrorism is an inhumane act that causes trouble to the country if not handled wisely. The nation should negotiate with the terrorists to secure a good connection between the nation and its people, the life of the hostages are a top priority and it gives enough time for the nation to act well on the rescue mission.

Should We Make It Compulsory for Everybody to Take Anti-Emotion Pill if It Exists?

Image result for pills

Emotion is a complex system that happens to everybody in their everyday life Imagine if someday, everybody is compulsory to take anti-emotion pills that render us emotionless for an extended time for whatever reasons they will make, will you agree to that? In my opinion, I am against this idea because some emotions spice up our life, it is against the freedom of expression, and a waste of money.

As  everyone depends on their emotion to show how they currently feel, life will be bland without them. They are the one that makes our typical normal interaction become interesting. With a current emotion like anger or joy, they can channel their feelings into other interactions to increase performance. For instance, an artist feeling sad can be inspired to paint a painting with a sad theme. As he has the emotion appropriate to the theme, he can paint well and improve the quality of the painting, thus increasing the price of the painting. When the pill is taken, they will be like emotionless robots walking around just doing their work. When performing any interaction emotionless, it will be less meaningful and boring. Emotions are unique as they evoke the sense of a meaningful life.
Moreover, forcing everyone to take anti-emotion pills  can have devastating effect from those who oppose it.  The freedom of expression has long been implemented in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights where people have the rights to hold their opinion without interference as long as the expression is appropriate (not about child pornography, obscenity and much more). When the freedom of expression has been taken away from the people, they will do anything in their power to fight for that right in the form of a social uprising. From such actions, the situation of any country who implement this idea will be chaotic later. People who agree and disagree with the idea will disrupt their peace as they are divided by their opinions. From here, even a small pill can bring bad effects in our life.

Furthermore, providing enough anti-emotion pills for everybody can be a waste of money. The country has to put a lot of money on the production of the pills in to ensure everybody gets one. Not all people will eat them though as there are some people who dislike taking medicine or they believe that they are perfectly fine without it. As only a few people will benefit from it, a lot of money have been wasted. The country then will have financial problems as they spent a huge amount of money on the production of the pills, thus lowering the economy of the country itself. Providing everybody with the pills is an effortless idea as not all will consume it and the production causes a lot of money which can be used to other revenues like education or health.

In a nutshell, making it compulsory for everyone to consume anti-emotion pills is a vague and immature idea as it dulls our life, can cause a social uprising and a waste of money.

Should Ice Cream Be Banned From the Elders

Image result for ice cream

Do you still remember the time when you asked your parents for money to buy ice cream from the mobile ice cream vendor? As you licked the delicious food with glee, a big smile appeared on your face. It is a favorite dessert among people of various ages, including elders. If suddenly there’s a ban for the elders to eat ice cream, will you go for it or against it? If I were you, I will immediately against it as ice cream can make them happy, it has health benefits and it is against their rights to eat something they love.

As ice cream is loved by everyone worldwide, it is a mistake if the elders cannot enjoy it like the others. Ice cream is a remedy for them to be happy. This is because the sweetness of ice cream can trigger the pleasure center in the humans’ brain to release a chemical that gives them joy. As people age, they become more depressing by year. Depression is a serious matter as it can harm the health of people especially people of old age. By giving them ice cream, they can be happy which consequently can decrease their chance of being depressed. To make the elders live a happier life, giving them ice cream is one of the ways.

Image result for elders eating ice cream

Moreover, eating ice cream provides some health benefits to the elders. As people age over time, their appetite slowly loses. There are some elders that are sent to hospitals or old folks’ house and there are reports of food wastage in those places as they become picky eaters caused by their loss of appetite. They will be prone to health problems like a backache and broken hips because they consume less food than they originally should. By providing them ice cream which contains minerals like calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin C, at least they gain some of those vitamins to improve their health. Ice cream is not only enjoyable to eat by everyone, it is also healthy when consumed adequately.

Furthermore, there are some elders who still enjoy ice cream. As ice cream is initially produced for everyone to enjoy, this ban is unfair for elders who like the sweet dessert. If they cannot enjoy the sweet treat freely, those who enjoy it very much will be sad and sadness can decrease their immune system. With a low immune system, they will be prone to diseases such as heart attack and a mild cold. Banning them from the threat is also a violation of their rights to eat something that can prevent malnutrition as stated in the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights. As ice cream should be a treat enjoyed by everyone of all ages, banning only the elderly from eating them is not recommended when it gives them many benefits.

In a nutshell, ice cream is a delicious treat that should be equally enjoyed by all people especially the elders as it provides happiness, good health benefits and banning only them from eating it is a violation of the rights of eating.

Inside Out: Emotions Are Powerful

Movie Review:
Inside Out
Image result for inside out

Inside Out may look like a normal family movie aimed towards the children but it's not. Directed by Pete Docter, the movie is about the idea of someone in our mind making our important decisions in life. The central characters, Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear, are the ones responsible for controlling Riley, an 11- year old girl that recently moved from Minnesota to new york City. Overwhelmed by culture shock, it is up to the emotions to handle Riley's life while she is in a shocking state.

In my opinion, the most significant aspect of the material is...

In my book, the most significant aspect of the movie is how it shows that the choices we always think that will solve our problems are not always the best decision. As seen in the movie, we can perceive that the main character Joy is an optimistic dictator that has the idea of happiness can cure anything. She always wants anything to be done in her own ways as she tries her best to distance Sadness from a control panel-like table to prevent Riley from being sad. In the end, she begins to realize that not all problems can be solved with happiness. As she learns that Sadness plays a crucial part of helping Riley in a way, she is finally open to the possibility that a problem can be solved significantly when other options are considered.

In a way, she represents most of us who are hard-headed in doing things our own way. We always have the feeling that we have the best solution to any problems faced, thus clouding ourselves from other possibilities that may be better that our own. We often fear that doing things not in the way we are used to will result in failure.   What the movie has taught me is that we must lower our ego to open our eyes and mind to what might be the best solution all along. As seen in the scene where Joy allows Sadness to intervene on the control panel in order to prevent Riley from running away from home, the intervention of other techniques rather than the usual routine can significantly produce the best solution.

All in all, Inside Out is an amazing family movie that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. Pixar has really outdone themselves in making this movie and worthy of the awards it received in early 2016.
PS; I wonder how this broccoli pizza tastes like?

MADPP Inter-Class Debate Competition: A Little Reflection of Mine

It was one heck of a round as two teams did their best in clarifying each of their points while jotting down all the crucial points spoken from one another from each team. They rebut, they pointed out good points, they had great  structure, and that was their ingredients of victory. If you are thinking of a debate competition by reading this then yes my friend, you are correct.

Debating is an interesting way for two sides that have different opinions on a particular topic to discuss it with each other. As my lecturer conducted a small debate competition among two classes this week, all of the students in those two classes give their all in the competition with interesting points they have researched on the topics given. From the competition, I had learned a lot as it was my first time debating. The crucial lessons I gained from such an entertaining activity was that I can gain vast knowledge, it helped me to see on new perspectives and encouraged me to structure my speaking and writing skills.

To survive in the debate world, simply having just the general idea to a certain topic to discuss later on is not enough. You need to research in details about that topic so that you can have a well-developed point to increase your chance of winning. Along the process, you can gain new knowledge about things you have known before or something completely new. With the new knowledge, you can spice up your conversation to be interesting and mature. For example, as I tried to find a few interesting points to strengthen my arguments about why banning ice-cream on the elderly is not a great idea, I learned some new idea that ice cream is actually recommended to them as it has some vitamins that can strengthen the bone. Later, I can converse with my grandparents with more interesting topics to talk. As gaining knowledge is a priceless experience, joining a debate competition can definitely become an incredible journey to become brilliant.

Moreover, as debates usually let two teams have a friendly argument about the topics given, it can open your mind to see a new perspective you have never thought of. As you defend your motion with your well-revised arguments, you gain a new insight from the opponents as they blurt out their own arguments that you may find fascinating. For instance, a friend of mine recently debated about the motion of the earth is flat and I initially think this is an absurd idea as the Earth is convincing to be Spherical in shapes by many scientists. As I hear their ideas, I get the gist of why some people still believe the Earth is really flat because of some really convincing theories that support it. It really can open the mind to accept a new belief during a debate competition.

Furthermore, debating is a perfect moment to improve your speaking and writing skills. In a debate competition, you need to structure your points neatly so that you can gain more points to win. You need to state your points firstly, followed by elaborations and example to solidify the idea. With a proper planning, your can speak your idea confidently, it will be easy to understand, and everyone will be further convinced of it. As constructing a speech is similar to constructing an essay,  this can benefit you in academic levels later on. A well-constructed essay that can boost your performance in the essay-heavy task -tests, essay assignment- will be easy to do once you are familiar with making a speech draft. With the required skills, you can impress teachers greatly when presenting in class and writing an essay.

All in all, joining the debate competition was one of the amazing experience I ever had as it really improves you as a person as you gain new knowledge, be open to other possibilities and improve your speaking and writing skills.

Will Cars Vanish In the Future?

Image result for no car allowed symbol

Cars have become a necessity in life to transport us from one place to another. There has been an argument stating that in twenty years, there will be fewer cars in use than there is today. If you ask me, I believe that cars will not be fewer in the future because of the unique features in cars and the feel of ownership when owning a car.

Cars in the future will not be fewer because there has been an advancement in car technologies. Car designs are becoming more eco-friendly these days. For example, a hybrid car which combines the usage of electrics and fuels can reduce the pollution it causes to the environment. These kinds of cars have attracted the attention of people because of its features. Furthermore, cars consume fewer fuels than other vehicles such as buses and vans. As sources for fuel have become scarce, fuels in the future will become expensive and will not be available for all vehicles. Cars will be one of the important vehicles of the future because of its low consumption of fuel.

The number of cars in the future will not decrease because more people will individually own a car in the future. Like smartphones, owning a car can be a pleasure to people as it gives off a feeling of owning something important in their life. When owning a car, people can also commute to their desired destinations without a hassle. Unlike riding a bus, you do not have to wait for several minutes or hours for the vehicle to arrive; your car is available all the time. In addition, you can modify your car as you wish. Modifying a car is as simple as decorating your room, as long as you have enough money. You can modify the car by changing the color of the car or adding stickers that suit your personality. In the end, owned cars will be a pleasure for the owners because of the freedom they provide.

In a nutshell, the number of cars will not decrease in the future because of their special features and the freedom of choices they provide to the people.

Juno: Pregnancy Really Opens The Mind

Movie Review:
Juno
"I'm just gonna go ahead an nip this thing in the bud. Cuz you know, they say pregnancy often leads to, you know... an infant"

Juno is a beloved comedy movie that tells the tale of a pregnant teenager named Juno going through teenagers problems and pregnancy simultaneously. As she becomes pregnant after an "accident" with his friend Paulie Bleaker, she still carries the baby for a family that cannot conceive their own baby after she changes her mind about abortion. During those crazy times she faces, she has gone through events that change her into a mature person.

If I were in the main character's position, I would...

In the movie, Juno wants to carry his accidental baby for a family that wants to adopt her baby. As she agrees with it, she has to handle all the burden of being pregnant (morning sickness, mood swings or cannot use your favorite jeans). She also had to handle the criticism thrown at her but she keeps her head high and mostly counters them with her free-spirited attitude. Being a pregnant teenager till the end is really uncommon as most teenagers prefer abortion as a way to get away from humiliation but not Juno.  If I were in her position, I would undergo the whole pregnancy as well. This is because I believe that we should be responsible for the consequences of our action. While going through the pregnancy may be hard, but we can learn something valuable in the journey later on. If I just go through the abortion, it might   burden me in a way as I have killed an unborn person that is short-lived by my reckless actions.
All in all, Juno is a great comedy movie that perfectly captures the essence of a coming-of-age story of a pregnant teenager doing what is right to her and the people she matters.

The Ron Clark Story: An Inspiring Teacher

Movie Review:
The Ron Clark Story
“I want the kids to enjoy reading not only today but for the rest of their lives.”

Have you ever give up on a task that seems to be impossible to achieve? Not Mr. Ron Clark though. The Ron Clark Story is an inspiring TV movie based on the true story of a teacher with a similar name. He is a great teacher that has his own unique methods of teaching and reaching his students as he often challenges himself at the same time.

Do you think that watching this material is beneficial for your future?

Watching the movie, I think that I can learn a lot from the main character Ron Clark. He is an inspiring person as he never gives up on his pupils despite the challenges they present to him. He always has his ways to help the students in his class. For example, he  visits his students' houses to check their background and tries to combine their youthful interest like rap with a history to make the lesson fun and easy to understand. He even ignores his own health to teach his students. His effort is finally paid off in the end as his students have beaten the honor class in the same school in a state exam. He has also change the pupils' attitude to a more positive outlook in life as they were foreshadowed by their background of being the worst class in the school and their personal background as well. Basically, there is a lot of improvements Ron Clark has made in the students mainly because of his strong spirit of not giving up. His determination has inspired me to do the same as well. Since my future is carved upon my decisions today, I must be positive in life as my attitude alters what I do in life. If I do my very best in life, surely my efforts will be fruitful as Ron Clark's.
All in all, the movie has inspire millions of people to do their very best and not giving up easily in anything they do as Ron Clark has proved  it in his actions. This movie is a perfect example of the saying, "hard work pays off".
