1)    Brusque

Meaning: Talking or behaving in a very direct, brief, and unfriendly way.

E.g.:  She asked for a cup of coffee and received a brusque reply: "We don't have any."

2)   Apropos

Meaning 1: At an opportune time: seasonably / By way of interjection or further comment: with regard to the present topic.



E.g.: I went up to New York last weekend; apropos, have you seen your New York cousins lately?

Meaning 2: Suitable or appropriate

E.g.:The ceremony concluded with the reading of an apropos poem.


Meaning 3: With regard to (something)


E.g.:Make a number of telling observations apropos the current political situation.

3)   Prevalent

Meaning: Accepted, done, or happening often or over a large area at a particular time : common or widespread.

E.g.: A fashion that is prevalent among teenagers.

4)   Tog

Meaning: To dress especially in fine clothing - usually used with up or out.

E.g.: Crissy smiled as she took pictures of her son, who was togged out in a tuxedo and standing next to his prom date.

5)   Prattle

Meaning 1 : To talk for very long about something that is not important or interesting.


E.g.: They prattled on into the night, discussing school, music, and friends.

Meaning 2 : a sound that is meaningless, repetitive, and suggestive of the chatter of children.

E.g.: Parents often claim to understand the prattle of their infant offspring.
